One dead, one critically hurt after Montgomery County shooting

SILVER SPRING, Md. — One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting in Montgomery County Monday.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a home off Norbeck Road in Silver Spring Monday night.

“When they arrived, they found one male deceased in the driveway area of the residence,” says Capt. Paul Starks, a spokesman with the Montgomery County Police Department.

A second man is in critical condition after being shot. Authorities say they believe he is directly tied to the incident, but at this point the nature of his involvement is not clear.

“As soon as he is able to, we are going to try to interview him and learn what he knows,” Starks says.

There were multiple people inside the home at the time of the incident. Detectives are speaking to them as potential witnesses.

Authorities are trying to determine what transpired, but they will not yet say how the deceased man was killed. Police have not released the name of the man who died.

Montgomery County police declined to release further details, saying the investigation is in its very early stages.
