SoberRide offers holiday drinkers a free lift home

WASHINGTON — ‘Tis the season for lots of holiday parties and drunk-driving deaths. But if revelers don’t have designated drivers this holiday season, there’s a way to get a free taxi ride home from now until the end of the year from SoberRide.

SoberRide is a service provided by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program to provide a safe way home for impaired drivers, during high-risk times of the year.

SoberRide operates during:

  • The December – January holiday season
  • St. Patrick’s Day
  • Independence Day
  • Halloween

Taxi rides are free up to a $30 fare. Callers will be financially responsible for anything over $30. The number for SoberRide is(800)200-TAXI(8294).
