WASHINGTON — Police are looking for two suspects in connection with a fatal stabbing outside Rock Creek Park in September.
The body of 49-year-old Matias Molina, of Nothwest, was found in a creek bed near Beach Drive and and Joyce Road shortly before 8 p.m. on Sept. 2. He’d been fatally stabbed.
“We have concluded that he was not killed at the location where he was found,” said acting D.C. Police Captain Robert Alder.
Investigators believe the victim knew his killer.
“The person who is accused of stabbing the victim is a co-worker of his,” Alder said, later confirming that the two worked at one of the Clyde’s restaurants in our area.
Police have identified two suspects in the incident. Angel Dilmar Monge, also known as Alex Avalos, 40, is wanted for second degree murder while armed.
Avalos is Hispanic, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a black scorpion on his left forearm and should be considered armed and dangerous.

“At this time we beleive that the motive was an argument,” said Alder.
Police don’t think the argument took place at the restaurant.
Molina’s body was discovered by a passerby in a highly visible, well-patrolled area of the park. Police said in September it was possible he had been moved there after the stabbing.
The park is not frequently the site of violent crime and police said they consider the area safe.
