Police: Va. disc jockey secretly filmed sexual assaults

WASHINGTON — A man who worked as a private disc jockey at parties in the D.C. region has been charged with various sex offenses.

Joseph M. Rivera, 34, formerly of Four Mile Road in Alexandria, is charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, animate sexual object penetration and two counts of unlawful filming, according to a Fairfax County police news release.

Police say Rivera secretly filmed several women, some of whom were sexually assaulted. Authorities have identified some of the women on film, while others remain unknown to police.

In addition to his work as a DJ, Rivera hosted bartending competitions around the region.

Fairfax County Police Adult Sex Crimes Unit officers are available to speak with any victims who wish to come forward at (703) 246-7830.

Police say Rivera left the D.C. region in June and was arrested in Las Vegas, where he awaits extradition.
