What stores are open Christmas Eve and Christmas?

WASHINGTON – You have the cookies and the hot chocolate, but you realize you’ve forgotten the Christmas ham!

So which stores are open Monday and Tuesday to get last-minute cooking items?

In most areas, Giant Food, Safeway, Walgreens, and CVS Pharmacy will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas day with limited hours. Costco and Whole Foods Market are open Monday but not Tuesday. The Safeway on Wisconsin Avenue in the District will be open 24 hours Tuesday with limited hours at other locations.

If you decided not to cook this year or need some coffee before a long drive to visit relatives, Denny’s, IHOP and Starbucks will be open on Christmas day at most locations.

And if you still haven’t finished your holiday shopping by Christmas morning, you might be out of luck. Most shops will be closed on Christmas.

Here are some stores open Monday, but closed on Tuesday.

  • Walmart
  • Target
  • Kmart
  • Best Buy
  • Ikea,
  • Macy’s

If you’re really in a pinch, 7-Eleven offers gift cards, wine and stocking stuffers like toy cars for children. The store is open 24 hours on Christmas.
