Cast your vote and have a cheap cold one on Election Day

EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to strict alcohol laws in the D.C. metro area, Capitol City Brewing Company will NOT be hosting a free beer promotion on Election Day, as earlier reported. Instead, they will host a 13-hour Happy Hour at both locations.

WASHINGTON – Anyone at least 21 years old wearing a sticker or pin declaring they’ve voted on Nov. 6 will get a free pint of beer from Capitol City’s “Four Core” beer selection at the company’s D.C. brewpub.

“That’s one of our ways of giving back, and saying, ‘Thanks for voting,'” said Tony Harahan, general manager of the D.C. location.

Capitol City also wanted to give away free beer at its Arlington brewpub, but Virginia’s alcohol laws forbid it.

But all is not lost: both locations will offer happy hour specials from 11 a.m. to midnight on Election Day, as well as food specials.

“Even though there’s both sides, Republican and Democrat … we wanna kinda have everybody here, and having a good time with it,” said Harahan.

Patrons can also expect to see Inauguration Day specials come Jan. 20, 2013.
