Man attempts to rob three women at gunpoint, assaults one

WASHINGTON – A man attempted to rob three women at gunpoint and sexually assaulted one Thursday night, Prince William County police say.

Three women from the Dumfries area were walking along Fuller Heights Road near the intersection of Mockingbird Heights Road in Triangle, Va. when the man threatened them with a gun and attempted to rob them, police say. The man then took one of the girls away from the group and assaulted her.

The man fled from the scene when he saw lights of responding police cars arrive around 10 p.m.

The suspect is described as a black male with light to medium complexion, 5-feet-8- inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall, 18 to 25 years old and wearing a large dark hooded sweatshirt and dark colored faded baggy jeans. Police say he was armed with what looked like a black and silver handgun.
