Man arrested in brutal beating of 72-year-old man

WASHINGTON – A man has been arrested and charged in the brutal beating of a 72-year-old man.

Prince George’s County police took Justin Charles Strong, 22, of the 4100 block of 34th Street in Mt. Rainier, into custody Friday.

Police say that Strong approached the victim at a bus stop in Calmor Manor on Sept. 15 brandishing a knife and demanding the victim’s wallet.

The victim refused to give his wallet, Strong then walked away but returned later with an aluminum baseball bat and began allegedly attacking the victim.

Police were called to the scene just before 6 a.m., where the found the victim suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Strong is being charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, armed robbery and several other charges.

He is being held without bond.
