Storm chops chimney off Arlington home

ARLINGTON, Va. – The ferocious storms Tuesday brought down a tree on Femila Riguera’s home while she was inside, and she’s thankful no one was hurt.

The storm uprooted a tree in Riguera’s neighbor’s yard and then sliced off the top of her chimney before crashing into the home in the 2200 block of South Dinwiddie Street, near Wakefield High School.

“All the sudden, the shaking, and I said, ‘Another earthquake?'” said Riguera.

“Then I heard ‘boom!’ And I thought, ‘What was that?’

“I thought it was an earthquake. But when I found out, oh well,” said Figuera, who feels says she feels “blessed” that no one was hurt.

“Having life, compared to losing it.”

Figuera lives with her husband an two other family members and says they have insurance.
