MERRIFIELD, Va. – A weekend full of potential traffic headaches is on tap for drivers in Northern Virginia.

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday and lasting until 5 a.m. Monday, multiple lanes of Interstate 66 west at the interchange with the Capital Beltway will be closed. In addition, there will be closures on the ramps from the Inner and Outer Loops to I-66 west.

And at 9:30 p.m. Sunday night, the Outer Loop ramp to I-66 west will close completely. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 52B, Little River Turnpike (Route 236) east, follow signs to Interstate 495 north and take Exit 49, I-66 west.

This is all being done because of Express Lane work in the area.

All lanes should reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

Drivers are being told to expect delays of up to 30 minutes passing through the area.

The following links show the time-frame for the work. All of the scheduled roadwork is weather permitting.
