Pr. George’s Co. will release schools superintendent early

WASHINGTON – Prince George’s County Schools Superintendent William Hite will give up six months worth of severance pay in exchange for an early release of his contract.

Hite’s contract originally required him to give 120 days notice before leaving, according to the school board.

Now, Hite’s last day will be Sept. 30.

The board says it will appoint an interim superintendent next month, and expects to pick a permanent replacement by next spring.
