Denver brewery capitalizes on Harper’s ‘Clown Question’

WASHINGTON – It may have been a “clown question,” but it certainly wasn’t a clown idea.

A Denver company is capitalizing on Bryce Harper’s charming dismissal of a Canadian reporter, who asked the 19-year-old Nationals’ phenom last week if he would take advantage of the lower drinking age in the Great White North.

Harper, a Mormon, refused to take the bait. But that isn’t beyond the Denver Beer Co., who plans to launch “Clown Question, Bro” at the end of June, just in time for the Nats’ series against the Rockies.

“Maybe he’ll come here, although he can’t drink it here,” the company’s brewmaster Charlie Berger tells Westword.com.

Denver Beer is making the brew in the style of a Canadian lager, and Berger says they might sell it with a big red clown nose.

Unfortunately, it will be difficult for Washingtonians to tip one back. Clown Question is only available in the Mile High City, reports DCist.com .
