City of Frederick announces Transparent Frederick

The City of Frederick announced the release of Transparent Frederick on Tuesday.

Through this new initiative, the city will now be able to allow residents to see how their tax dollars are being used, according to a news release from the City of Frederick.

The initial release will show citizens where their tax money is being spent. Residents will be able to follow how money is spent from the fund level to the department to the actual purchase order used to pay a vendor, according to the news release.

Over the next few months, other features will be released that will show the city’s revenue sources and where money is spent geographically.

Transparent Frederick was developed by the city’s Information Technology department in conjunction with the finance department. Residents can find Transparent Frederick on the city’s website at www.cityoffrederick.com/transparent.
