WASHINGTON – A woman died in a five-car accident along Oxon Hill Road near the National Harbor in Fort Washington.

Prince George’s County Police Cpl. Larry Johnson tells WTOP the driver of a GMC Yukon hit two cars while traveling north along the road around 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The Yukon then crossed over the double yellow lines into the southbound lanes, striking a Honda Accord head-on and causing it to overturn and hit another car.

The woman driving the Accord died at the scene.

None of the other people involved in the accident were critically injured, including the driver of the Yukon. He was conscious and fully alert when officers rescued him from his vehicle, Johnson says.

Speed is considered a factor in this crash.

Investigators will determine whether any additional charges will be filed in the case.
