New bus connects Tysons and Alexandria’s Mark Center

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A new Metrobus route begins Monday between Tysons Corner and the Mark Center in Alexandria.

Metro announced the Route 28X Leesburg Pike Limited service will be extended to include eastbound trips in the morning and westbound trips in the evening serving the new Mark Center in Alexandria.

The buses will run every 25 to 30 minutes during rush hour between Tysons Corner and Mark Center, near Seminary Road and Beauregard Street.

The 28X is expected to provide faster service, with fewer stops than the local 28A route.

Route 28X stops will be at the following locations:

  • West Falls Church Metro Station
  • Seven Corners Shopping Center

The new 28X service will stay on Leesburg Pike at Baileys Crossroads, but won’t make stops on Columbia Pike and Carlin Springs Road.

Metro says the Leesburg Pike Line (28A/X) will serve these locations:

  • King Street Station
  • Bradlee Shopping Center
  • Inova Alexandria Hospital
  • Southern Towers
  • Northern Virginia Community College (Alexandria campus)
  • Skyline City
  • Bailey’s Crossroads
  • Seven Corners Center
  • Falls Church
  • West Falls Church-VT/UVA station
  • Tysons Corner Center

Metro says in June it will offer more service between West Falls Church station and Mark Center. Buses will run every 15 minutes.

Here is the map and bus schedule for the 28X.
