Dupont restaurant closed after weekend shooting

WASHINGTON — An Indian restaurant near Dupont Circle has been temporarily closed by police and could face further action following deadly violence that left one dead and five others injured over the weekend.

While police continue their investigation into the shooting outside Heritage Indian Restaurant early Sunday morning, the city’s Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration has ordered its own inquiry.

The results are to be given to the alcoholic beverage board at a private hearing Wednesday.

Regulators will want to know if the restaurant operator did all that could be done to prevent the violence.

The board could decide to suspend or revoke the restaurant’s alcoholic beverage license.
