A potent cold front is dropping out of the Midwest and will bring us unseasonably cool and comfortable air by Wednesday.  Until then, it remains hot and very humid.  As the cold front inches closer, the risk of thunderstorms will increase.  Some storms will fire up tonight and some could contain heavy downpours and gusty winds.  The greatest threat of strong to severe storms will arrive tomorrow.  Temperatures will soar into the low 90s, but will feel closer to the triple digit mark with the high humidity.  These ingredients, coupled with strong upper level dynamics, will fuel the fire for thunderstorms that could produce damaging wind gusts in excess of 60mph, large hail, and even an isolated tornado.  The Storm Prediction Center has our area in an elevated risk for severe storms.

Storm Prediction Center

Tuesday will bring additional chances for widespread strong to severe storms, as the cold front passes the area late Tuesday. The drier, less humid air will filter in early Wednesday morning. Expect highs Wednesday through Friday to reach the low 80s with dewpoint temperatures in the low 50s.  It will be quite a refreshing chance for mid July.  Stay weather aware with the impending storm threat from the StormWatch7 weather team.
