Dave’s take: Fire everybody

WASHINGTON — Fire the owner. Change the name. Change the quarterback.
These are all suggestions I heard while sitting in the stands on Sunday at
FedExField.

“Fire the owner” might be fun for some to say, but often owners win labor
disputes with themselves. And I didn’t see Dan Snyder on the field during the
27-7 loss to the Buccaneers.

“Change the name.” I have been doing that story for 25 years and probably will
for another 25.

“Change the quarterback” is a story that never goes away. It is something the
Redskins have done 24 times in the last 22 seasons.

Behind me yesterday at the game, I heard a spirited debate between two fans
about Robert Griffin III. One guy said Griffin isn’t a pocket passer. The
other guy blamed the Redskins offensive line. I wanted to turn around and tell
them they were both right, but didn’t want beer dumped on my head.

One fan blamed himself because he keeps buying tickets. It’s kind of like
going to a doctor and saying, “It hurts when I do this,” and the doctor says,
“Then don’t do that.” The fan is going to do it anyway. Misery loves company.

Or like the person who says he has been lied to, stolen from and cheated, but
he just keeps showing up to see what happens next.
