U. of Michigan plans $168M athletic facility

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The University of Michigan wants to build a $168 million multi-use facility for its Division I Olympic sports, including track, tennis, cross country, rowing, soccer and lacrosse.

The Ann Arbor News reports (http://bit.ly/1BIEgKS) the athletic department proposal for the Stephen M. Ross Athletic South Competition and Performance Project is expected to be discussed at Thursday’s Board of Regents meeting. Plans would allow it to demolish a building for the new 310,000-square-foot facility.

The project is to be funded in part by a previously announced gift from Ross, a real estate magnate.
