Regional Transportation Projects May Not Get Federal Funding

November 15, 2007 - 8:35am
Hank Silverberg, WTOP Radio

WASHINGTON - President Bush has threatened to veto a transportation bill that includes $35 million for Metrorail's expansion to Dulles International Airport and about $3 million to improve the 14th Street Bridge.

The $50 billion bill also includes $200,000 to put cameras and a pedestrian warning system on Metro buses and $200,000 for low-income housing in Arlington. The bills is $3 billion less than Bush wanted.

"It's exactly one week's expenditure in Iraq," says Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va.

Moran does not think there are enough votes for an override.
