Man sought in police killing returned to Mexico

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A man wanted for allegedly killing a police officer in Mexico a decade ago has been returned to that country from the U.S.

Immigration agents on Tuesday handed over 39-year-old Flavio Camacho Hernandez to Mexican authorities at a San Diego-area border crossing.

Camacho, a Mexican national, was arrested June 4 outside his South Los Angeles home. Authorities say he’s charged with first-degree murder in the 2004 killing of an off-duty policeman in the state of Sinaloa.

Mexican authorities claim Camacho and two accomplices gunned down Eleazar Castro-Lugo because he defended another man in a fight earlier that day.
