GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Hamas spokesman says the four-hour cease-fire declared by Israel doesn’t have any “value,” because it excludes border areas from which Hamas wants to evacuate the wounded.
The Israeli military says it’s declared the cease-fire in some areas of the Gaza Strip for humanitarian reasons.
The partial cease-fire comes after Israeli tank shells earlier today slammed into a crowded U.N. school, killing 15 people and wounding 90. Gaza residents were in the school taking refuge from the fighting. The Israeli military says its soldiers were responding to mortar shells that had been fired from near the school.
Israel’s military says its forces are still working to demolish tunnels in some areas of the Strip. It says at least two rockets were fired at Israel after its declaration to partially hold fire.
