Some of the math and reading skills 12th graders were tested on as part of the Nation’s Report Card:
MATH:
— Students performing at the advanced level in math are likely to be able to complete a proof by mathematical induction or write a formula to solve a problem using a spreadsheet.
–Students at the proficient level are likely to be able to determine the measurement of an angle in a three-dimensional figure or identify a formula to solve a problem using a spreadsheet.
–Students performing at the basic level in math are likely to be able to read a scatterplot.
READING:
–Students at the advanced level are likely to be able to interpret a paragraph and explain the central purpose of a historical speech.
–Students at the proficient level are likely to be able to interpret language and recognize the meaning of a word in a historical speech.
–Students at the basic level are likely to recognize the meaning of a word in a historical speech and an interpretation of a sentence in its introduction.
