ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown’s campaign says Republican Larry Hogan’s plan to save $1.75 billion in state spending is “a financial house of cards” filled with errors.

But Hogan on Saturday stood by his campaign plan to cut waste and fraud. Hogan has campaigned on cutting more than $1.75 billion in waste in state government. He has cited an analysis of state and federal audits that he says Maryland officials haven’t acted on.

The Brown campaign says nearly $1.2 billion of Hogan’s claims would not translate into actual savings. The campaign says the state has acted to correct a number of things cited by Hogan. Also, the campaign says a misplaced decimal point in Hogan’s analysis inflated a savings of $11.95 million to $119.5 million.
