Fort Belvoir has a hand in Ebola response

FORT BELVOIR, Va. (AP) — The Defense Logistics Agency at Fort Belvoir is overseeing shipments of supplies to West Africa as part of the U.S. government’s response to the Ebola epidemic.

The agency said Tuesday that its worldwide distribution centers are shipping more than 2,800 cots to the Liberian capital of Monrovia.

The agency says it’s also overseeing shipments of tents, prepackaged meals, bottled water, mosquito netting and insect repellent to the area.

The shipments are part of a U.S. military response to the outbreak. The Army general commanding the effort says it will likely cost $750 million over six months.

The Defense Logistics Agency sources and provides nearly all of the consumable items that U.S. military forces need to operate.
