Micronic Technologies to move HQ to Southwest Va.

WISE, Va. (AP) — Water treatment technology company Micronic Technologies plans to move its headquarters from Northern Virginia to Southwest Virginia.

Micronic Technologies CEO Karen Sorber says the company is working to develop industrial equipment to help clean wastewater from natural gas fracking and acid mine drainage.

Sorber tells the Bristol Herald Courier (http://bit.ly/Rpxgjy) that Southwest Virginia is a better business environment for the company’s product because of its coal, methane gas and natural gas resources.

The company plans to move to Wise County in June.

Sorber says the company will work with the University of Virginia’s College at Wise to raise matching funds for a grant from the Virginia Tobacco Commission.
