Service makes it easy to use social media to find a job

WASHINGTON – A new online service uses Twitter and Facebook to help you get find job openings near you.

TweetMyJobs is the high-tech way to use an old tried and true method to get a job — being referred to a company or government agency by someone who already works for them.

Some of your Facebook friends or people you follow or who follow you on Twitter may be employed somewhere you’d like to work and the service finds out for you.

Just sign up on TweetMyJobs, indicate what kind of job you’re looking for, connect your Facebook and Twitter accounts through TweetMyJobs and then choose if you would like to be notified by email, text alerts to your phone or Twitter.

The service also has free mobile applications that shows job openings near you.

“It’s kind of replacing the ‘help wanted’ in the window signs,” Robin Richards, CEO of TweetMyJobs, tells Fox News.

Atlanta and Newark, N.J. have both entered into partnerships with the service.
