Metro Station Reopens After Device Disrupted

September 4, 2006 - 6:50pm
GREENBELT, Md. - A busy Metro station reopened Monday after a bomb squad disrupted a suspicious device in a suitcase.

Metro authorities say the station was closed after a man told police the suitcase he was carrying had explosives inside.

Police also received a tip from a passenger who was riding with the suspect on a train to College Park. Apparently, the man told the other passenger he was carrying explosives.

Police say the suitcase did not contain anything suspicious.

The suspect was traveling with a woman, and both were detained. They are expected to face charges.

After closing for a while, the Greenbelt Metro Station has reopened.
