Young Teen Arrested in Series of Sex Offenses

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a series of sexual offenses in Alexandria.

Police spokesman John Crawford says the boy, whose name is not being released because of his age, has been charged with four counts of sexual battery and two counts of indecent exposure.

"If you were to look at this individual, he is a pretty big kid for his age, and he could clearly be mistaken for an older teenager or a young man," said Crawford.

Most of the incidents occurred on July 19 and July 20 in north Old Town. The suspect was seen riding his bike when the crimes occurred.

Crawford credits the victims for the arrest.

"Our victims were right on the money with the description, and it was because of their ability to provide that information to detectives."

Crawford hopes other victims will now come forward. Anyone with information is being asked to call police at (703) 838-4711.
