Teacher Faces Assault Charges After Sunglass Incident

MANASSAS, Va. -- A local teacher could face jail time for snatching a pair of sunglasses off one of her students.

Rebecca Mitchell of West Virginia is accused of assaulting her first grade student who suffered scratches to his nose and face. Mitchell could face up to a year in prison or a $2,500 fine.

She has been placed on administrative leave.

An investigation by police and the school administration took place following the incident on Monday.
