McLEAN, Va. - Northbound George Washington Parkway has reopened at Route 123/Chain Bridge Road after huge tree branches came down on six cars Tuesday morning.

The top branches of a large tree snapped off, falling onto six cars near Turkey Run. No one was injured.

The roadway had to be closed as U.S. Park Service crews chopped the big branches and tree trunk into pieces and fed them into a wood chipper.

Southbound George Washington Parkway also closed briefly so that the tree crew could get to the scene.
