Man in custody after threats made at local college

Monday - 8/17/2009, 1:36pm  ET

ROCKVILLE, Md. - A former student at Montgomery College is in custody after allegedly making a threatening phone call that he was armed and "going to make national news."

At about 5:30 a.m. Monday, police say 911 dispatchers received a call that a young Asian male was waving a gun near the school. The call was traced to the Counseling Advisory Building at Montgomery College where Dan Dadem Le, the suspect fitting the description, was taken into custody.

Police say Le did not have a weapon on him.

Le was taken into custody, and admitted for a psychiatric evaluation. He'd attended Montgomery College last year, but withdrew from classes.

About 22 officers from Rockville City Police, Montgomery County Police and the sheriff's office responded and evacuated about 30 people from the building. School is not currently in session and nobody was hurt.

Dispatchers tried numerous times to call the cell phone caller back, but were unable to reach him. Officers later tracked the call to Le and found he had been describing himself.
