More charges filed against teacher

A Ballenger Creek Middle School teacher indicted in June, accused of videotaping girls as they changed clothes, is facing additional criminal charges, Frederick County State's Attorney Charlie Smith said Friday.

Adam Windsor, 25, of Hagerstown, Ballenger Creek's theater arts and band teacher for three years, faces a total of five counts each of child sex abuse, exploitation, and visual surveillance with prurient intent, according to court documents.

In June, a grand jury indicted Windsor on allegations involving two girls, ages 13 and 14. At the time, he was indicted on four criminal charges.

However, as the investigation continued, computer forensics experts found additional footage and identified three more girls, ages 12 and 13, Smith said.

On Friday, a grand jury indicted Windsor on two counts each for the three new victims, making his total number of charges now 10.

Windsor became the focus of an investigation by Detective Willie Ollie of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office as an offshoot of a case being conducted by the Baltimore office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, prosecutors said after the first indictments were issued.

ICE agents found video footage on his computer while executing a search and seizure warrant of Windsor's residence as part of a child pornography investigation, prosecutors said. The footage was taken at the middle school.

Investigators said Windsor used a cell phone to videotape girls dressing in a room set up for costume changes.

Windsor was placed on administrative leave April 24, when school officials became aware of the police investigation, officials said at the time of the June indictment.

Windsor has hired defense attorney Raphael J. Santini. Santini was unavailable for comment Friday evening.

A pretrial conference is set for Aug. 31 in Circuit Court. A jury trial is set for Nov. 18 and Nov. 19.

Meanwhile, Smith said the grand jury issued indictments in several other cases Friday:

-- Frederick residents Gustavo Basturo-Ojeda, 18, and Eminent Bryant, 17, were indicted on charges of armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft for the May 2 robbery of a man at knifepoint.

The victim was hit on the back of the head and robbed of $30 along McCain Drive near Orchard Way. Basturo-Ojeda, 18 now, was 17 at the time of the crime. Bryant is also being tried as an adult.

-- Amber Marie Slanina, 21, of Penn Hills, Pa., was indicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of heroin, clonapan and diazepam.

A Maryland State Police trooper arrested Slanina on July 10 after stopping to check out a disabled car on I-270.

A police dog alerted to the presence of drugs, and the trooper found 85 hits of heroin, needles and 40 other pills.

-- Darrell Martin, 50, of Gaithersburg, was indicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute a large amount of cocaine, possession of cocaine and paraphernalia.

Undercover Frederick Police Department officers believed they saw Martin conduct a drug transaction July 9. Soon after, officers stopped Martin for failing to stop his Lexus at a stop sign along Taney Avenue.

Fifty grams of crack cocaine was found in the glove box of the Lexus, along with $1,500 in cash.

-- Christopher Roos, 27, of Thurmont , was indicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

During a July 23 search of Roos' trailer in the 300 block of West Main Street in Thurmont , sheriff's deputies and officers with the Thurmont Police Department found 13 grams of marijuana and a digital scale.

The indictments forward all of the cases to Circuit Court.
