Fed ID cards could pay Metro fares in future

WASHINGTON - Preliminary discussions are underway for a pilot program that will let federal workers and contractors use their employee identification cards to pay Metro fares, Federal News Radio reports.

The Defense Department has had some preliminary conversations with Metro about the idea as the department looks to expand uses for employees' Common Access Card.
