ARLINGTON, Va. - A security guard at a North Arlington shopping center has been charged with extorting money from teenagers.

Homer Kelly, 49, has been charged with two counts of extortion for requesting payment from two teens.

Several teens were stopped at the Lee/Harrison Shopping Center by a security guard around 4 p.m. on Friday, June 12. The guard confiscated several items from two of the teenagers.

The guard then told the teens that he would turn over their information to the police and tell their parents unless he was paid what he described as a "fine."

The teens paid the guard and left the shopping center. Police were called when a parent was told about the incident.

Arlington County Police are asking that anybody with information about this or similar incident to contact Detective Rosa Ortiz at (703) 228-7402 or rortiz@arlingtonva.us.
