WASHINGTON -- Nationals fans will get their shuttle back for another season. The team tells WTOP it will operate the shuttle that picks up passengers from RFK Stadium and ferries them over to Nationals Park for free.
There had been some concern about the shuttle operating this year, with D.C. Council member Tommy Wells, Ward 6, even going as far as to recommend it stop operating. Residents in Ward 6 had complained about the shuttle idling on local roadways.
Fans will be able to park their cars at RFK stadium for free and catch the shuttle that drops off just block from Nats Park.
Metro also is gearing up for another busy season at the stadium. Last year, the transit agency noted that more than half of all fans who attended games took the subway and buses to get there.
The Navy Yard station on the Green Line is the closest to the ballpark.
Team officials have not yet announced plans for any changes to parking around the stadium. Last season, fears of crowded, crammed roadways around the stadium in Southeast never evolved.
