Trash will be picked up in D.C. on Inauguration Day

January 19, 2009 - 4:21pm
WASHINGTON - The District's Department of Public Works will be collecting trash and recycling on Inauguration Day.

But the trash collection schedule is being shifted due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

If Monday is your regular trash day, you should put your trash and recyclables out Monday night.

If Tuesday is your regular day, your trash will be picked up on Wednesday.

DPW will begin picking up trash at 5 a.m. to avoid problems with traffic and security checkpoints.

If your street is closed for security reasons, your trash will be picked up on Wednesday.
