BETHESDA, Md. - Another water main break is keeping utility crews busy in Bethesda - a day after nine people became trapped in their cars when a massive water main burst.

An 8-inch water main broke on Seven Locks Road between Bradley Boulevard and River Road on Wednesday morning.

The new break is on the River Road detour established on Tuesday.

Drivers should follow the new detour signs while WSSC repairs the water main.

The new detour takes drivers from Seven Locks Road to Green Twig Road, then onto Honeybee Lane, then onto Cindy Lane and back to Seven Locks Road.

WSSC expects Seven Locks Road to open again by 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials say it could be weeks before they know what caused the 66-inch water main to burst on River Road.

River Road between Bradley Boulevard and Seven Locks Road could reopen as soon as this weekend, officials say.
