WASHINGTON - Just three days removed from the election, the Obama Administration is already having an impact on D.C. traffic.
President-elect Barack Obama's transition team has just moved into its new headquarters at 451 6th St., N.W., about a block away from the Verizon Center.
Jersey walls now ring the building's entire block, taking away some travel lanes on busy city streets and removing parking spaces.
The barriers affect traffic on 5th, 6th, D and E streets in Northwest. Dozens of metered parking spaces also are no longer available.
Parts of 5th and 6th streets are now just one lane.
D.C. area drivers are certainly accustomed to Jersey barriers shutting down streets and closing travel lanes in the post-Sept. 11 world.
With Inauguration Day more than two months away, drivers will have to get used to the new travel restrictions.
The Obama camp has not made a comment on the new headquarters.
