Tractor Trailer Accident Snarls Traffic During Morning Commute

August 1, 2007 - 10:29am
WASHINGTON - A tandem truck on Route 50 near Annapolis, Md. lost its load of produce early Wednesday, snarling traffic for five hours.

The truck's second trailer turned over and split open, leaving produce all over the road. The accident happened about 3:15 a.m., about 1 mile before Route 424/Davidsonville. All lanes of Route 50 didn't reopen until after 8 a.m.

The accident jammed all alternate routes during the morning commute.

The truck remains on the side of the road.

It's expected that later this morning lanes will close so that the truck can be removed.
