WASHINGTON -- Your wedding day is supposed to be a joyous one. But for one local couple, it also brought a bit of despair.

Frances Marquez and Scott Veketch were married on Saturday morning.

After the ceremony, the couple hailed a cab near the Old Executive Office Building in the District.

Shortly after getting out of the cab, the couple was overcome with a "sick feeling in our stomach," Marquez says.

That's when the newlyweds realized they left a Kodak digital camera -- containing the only photos of their wedding -- in the backseat of the cab.

"Overall we were happy to have each other, but we would just be so grateful to get that digital card back," says Marquez, a professor at Gallaudet University

The cab was either beige or charcoal gray, Marquez says. The newlyweds say they only want the memory card back.

"My husband, his childhood home had burned down and he lost all of his pictures from his childhood, so he just felt it was happening all over again -- that loss," Marquez says.

The couple is offering a $500 reward to anyone who comes forward with the memory card containing their wedding photos.

To contact the couple, email them at: frances.marquez@gallaudet.edu
