Student Graduates with Perfect Attendance

June 13, 2007 - 3:03pm
BRENTSVILLE, Va. - A local high school student has accomplished a feat not many can claim: he has never missed a day of school.

Justin Forman, 18, is a student at Brentsville High School in Virginia and has a perfect attendance record of 2,836 consecutive days.

The streak was in serious jeopardy in elementary school when Forman's third-grade teacher nearly sent him home sick.

"My teacher came up to me and said, 'Justin, you are turning green, you need to go home.' And I was like, 'No, just let me stay for a little longer."

Forman first realized he had a streak going when he started a new school in sixth grade. There were some other close calls, and some teasing from friends -- but Forman says he's glad he was able to make it all the way.

"I get the nerd and the dork and everything. But, now that I've finished it, people have actually talked about it."

Forman will end his 13-year attendance streak Wednesday as he graduates from Brentsville High School. He hasn't chosen a college yet, but he plans to pursue a career in criminal justice.
