WASHINGTON - Alleged madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey is taking her case to the Supreme Court.

Palfrey's civil attorney Montgomery Blair Sibley is asking the nation's highest court for an emergency stay in her criminal racketeering and money laundering case.

The filing says Palfrey ran a high-end fantasy firm that "offered legal sexual and erotic services across the spectrum of adult behavior from 1994 until August 2006" before it was shut down and her assets seized. Her company offered its services to as many as 15,000 clients in the D.C. area.

Sibley says his client has asked for a new public defender, but not been granted one, and that if her case goes forward she could be irreparably harmed.

Palfrey's lawyer had filed a similar complaint in D.C.'s Appeals Court, but that court has not yet ruled.
