Ford names Galhotra as Lincoln’s new president

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — Ford’s luxury Lincoln division is getting a new president.

Kumar Galhotra, Ford’s vice president of engineering, will become president of Lincoln on Sept. 1.

Ford’s global marketing chief, Jim Farley, led Lincoln for the last 18 months. Farley will remain in charge of global marketing.

Fields said having a dedicated president shows Ford is serious about Lincoln’s revival. Galhotra was the senior engineer on Lincoln’s current vehicles.

Lincoln was the best-selling luxury brand in the U.S. two decades ago, but sales have fallen sharply. The company is trying to rebuild the brand with new vehicles.

Also Tuesday, Ford named Lockheed Martin executive Ken Washington its chief technical officer. Washington succeeds Paul Mascarenas, who is retiring.

The moves are Fields’ first major personnel changes since he became CEO on July 1.
