Packaging company expanding Virginia facility

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Trinity Packaging Corporation is planning to invest $9.5 million to expand its manufacturing operation in Franklin County, creating 25 jobs.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced the expansion of the Rocky Mount facility on Thursday.

Officials say Virginia successfully competed against New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee for the project.

New York-based Trinity Packaging is a privately held family business founded in 1917. It makes packaging for lawn and garden, consumer and home goods, dry food and snacks, pet care and other industries.

McAuliffe approved a $65,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund for the project. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission also approved $75,000 in funding.
