Tips for bargain Spring Break travel

WASHINGTON – If thinking about a getaway with the kids over spring break, there are ways to combine sun, fun and savings.

Even at the really popular family vacation spots, it is possible to do spring break on a budget.

“We are seeing some of the best deals in Orlando for families and really just Florida in general,” says Jeanenne Tornatore, a senior editor with Orbitz.com.

“Orlando has average rates of just $115 a night,” she says.

And rates are in the same ballpark on Florida’s west coast, which is great for those hoping to catch the last game or two of spring training.

“That is a great option for families looking to do something a little different,” Tornatore says.

She says gas prices are up, but hotel rates are so good this spring, they are offsetting much of the extra cost of fuel.

Spring break is just weeks away and there are good deals out there for families on a budget. You just need to know where to look.
