 Once again Mexico dealt with tragedy with the disappearance of 43 students after they were allegedly kidnapped by local police officers in the town of Iguala. Mass graves were discovered nearby but the bodies inside still haven’t been identified.

Lightning struck during the Corona Capital concert in Mexico City, delaying it for more than half an hour, while street performing angels drank soft drinks in the street.

Venezuela chose its new beauty queen and in Port-au-Prince former dictator Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier peacefully passed away at his home.

In Brazil, Social Democracy Party presidential candidate Aecio Neves prepared for a second round of elections after finishing a surprising second.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade rested with his knees wrapped in ice packs after practice for a pre-season game as part of the NBA Global Games.

In Mexico, the national soccer teams trounced Honduras in a friendly match.

In Bolivia, President Evo Morales won an unprecedented third term as president.

In Uruguay, young Syrians were given refuge by the Roman Catholic brothers of the Marista congregation, while in Nicaragua youths fought to save their home from the flood waters of the Ochomogo river.
