Manassas dogs found with legs, mouths duct-taped

WASHINGTON – A Manassas, Va., man was arrested on charges of burglary and animal cruelty after two dogs were found with their mouths and legs duct-taped together.

Prince William County police say that a homeowner in the 7500 block of Quail Run Lane told them her house was entered on April 17 through an unlocked basement door. The homeowner found blood all over the house and and her two West Highland terriers missing.

The female dog was later found dead in a trash bag in the area of Copeland Drive with her mouth and legs duct-taped, police say. They added that an area veterinarian called the homeowner and said a passing motorist found her male terrier, which was also duct-taped. The dog was brought to an animal hospital. He has since been returned home.

After an investigation, police arrested Khanh Hoang Hong, 44, of the 7500 block of Quail Run Lane, and charged him with one count of burglary, two counts of animal cruelty and two counts of grand larceny. They say the crime stemmed from “a relationship dispute.”

Hong was ordered held without bond and is due in court June 13.
