Woman assaulted and nearly abducted in Manassas

WASHINGTON – A 20-year-old woman says she was assaulted after a man tried to abduct her in Manassas Sunday.

The victim told police she was walking in the 10000 block of Portsmouth Road when a man grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth and attempted to drag her to a nearby alley, according to a news release from Prince William County police.

The victim says she fought back and screamed, which scared the man off. During the attempted abduction, the woman says she was hit with an unknown blunt object.

Since the woman was grabbed from behind, the suspect description is vague. The man is described as having a medium complexion, wearing a dark long-sleeved T-shirt or jacket.
