Former Loudoun teacher sentenced to 13 years for child porn

WASHINGTON — A former Loudoun County teacher has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for child pornography.

Ralph Watts Conrad III, 43, of Hamilton, Virginia received that sentence in Loudoun County Circuit Court Friday, according to Leesburg Today.

At the time of his arrest, Conrad was an art teacher at Algonkian Elementary School in Sterling. He had worked as a teacher in Loudoun County Public Schools for 15 years.

In April, Conrad plead guilty to 50 counts of possession of child porn.

Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman said the evidence indicates no local children were victimized, and that the images and videos were not produced in Loudoun County, Leesburg Today reports.

The child pornography found on Conrad’s laptop involved children as young as 2- and 3 years old. Also on the computer, authorities found many as 528 child porn videos and 2,735 pictures.

Following his release from prison, Conrad will be on supervised probation for 20 years. During that time, he will not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with any minors. He will be required to register as a sex offender and will not allowed to be within 100 feet of a school.

During his career in Loudoun County, Conrad taught in at least six elementary schools and for several years worked as an itinerant teacher, holding classes at the following schools: Belmont Station Elementary; Lowe’s Island Elementary; Frances Hazel Reid; Legacy Elementary; Mill Run Elementary; and Creighton’s Corner Elementary.
